The Zeta Phi chapter of Alpha Phi was founded on February 11, 1984 marking the creation of the first Panhellenic sorority at MIT. The founding members included sixty-four accomplished, driven, and social women who were looking to create a special bond between like minded women at MIT.
Today, that bond remains strong with over 100 members in our chapter and 60 of us living in our beautiful Phi Hive brownstone home in Boston. Our purpose is to create an environment that encourages support, scholarship, service, and sisterhood in all that we do. Alpha Phi’s philanthropy supports Women’s Heart Health, and we hold two main philanthropic events each year: Red Heart Gala, a brunch and auction held at our house, as well as Heartthrob, a pageant-style contest for representatives from MIT student groups.
We love eating dinners together, holding review sessions for classes, visiting Fenway Park and Newbury Street, hosting distinguished alumni in our home, and participating in fun sisterhood events. We encourage all members to grow and achieve to their fullest capacity during their time at MIT and beyond and support each other in all that we do.
